Abundance – I am thankful

Sowing and Reaping. It is a way to look at the world and I believe it to be true. We say things like “goes around, comes around’ or something about Karma and we all know what that means. We reap what we sow.

Truth be told we have precious little control over the world we live in. This is a way to help us manage and understand forces that we know exist but don’t understand. I was just reading something I want to share. In the Bible, in the book of Deuteronomy at chapter 14:27 there is a command from God to forgive debt and to care for those who have less. The command comes with a promise. It says to do this so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do. God’s blessing.

Scripture talks about a single seed that is planted dies and then brings out a harvest that is 30 or 60 or 100 times what the single seed was. Abundance. Where does the harvest come from? Imagine planting a single seed and getting 100 back. Where did the 100 come from? I know, I know. It’s the law of sowing and reaping. But we are not in charge of that. We get to help with planting correctly and weeding and watering but we can’t produce a single plant without God’s help and he controls the size of the harvest ultimately. It appears out of what is apparently nothing. Look in the dirt and you don’t see any seeds. Plant one seed and you can get 100.

We talk about our attitudes as being one of scarcity or abundance. I think we get what we expect. We have to do our part but the harvest is God’s to deliver and just maybe he gives us what we expect. So what do you expect from him? Abundance or Scarcity. I think it is your choice.

The thing it starts with is gratitude. Be grateful. Give Thanks. Thanksgiving. It’s coming soon and I will be giving thanks for all that I have and I will expect God to give me blessings. Maybe not in more stuff or things or money but certainly blessings. I pray I can count them all and always give thanks.

I pray you all have a great holiday and look forward to the best Thanksgiving ever.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
