Tuesday Night Tunes – Beagles!!
Ok, not really beagles. I’ll explain. I was at the gym Monday morning and the radio was playing what my trainer Celeste said was ‘classic rock’. Now I swear that the first 5-6 songs was either the Beatles or the Eagles. I decided this must be the Beagles station but that aside, I heard this one and it just hit me hard. Check out ‘The Beatles” and Let It Be.
I have been listening to the news lately and the spin from the Left and the Right is almost hypnotic.

The reality is I can’t do anything today about the fact that there is little or no adult supervision in Washington DC today. You would think these guys would get it but they don’t seem to.
The Dems say ‘but we won!!’ and the GOP says ‘we’re still here’ and the battle rages. Each says it’s the others fault we’re shutting down the government. The truth seems to evade both sides. I see the fact that we are divided about 50/50 and it’s not ‘winner take all’ in this case. I hear the rhetoric that says ‘we won’t be held hostage’ and the other side that says ‘but you won’t negotiate in good faith’. Both are right and wrong at the same time because they don’t want to lose power or give up anything to come to a meeting of the minds.
So, where am I going with this? Frankly, I’m not sure. I think the song ‘Let it be’ is the best answer for those of us on the sidelines right now. Turn off the news. put your head down and do your job. Love your family, work with your whole heart at what you do best and Let It Be. We get a say in November 2014 and again in 2016 and I would encourage you to get informed. That does not mean from watching TV.
TV is entertainment, not news. I would encourage you to read history. Books are a great path to getting informed. Read some philosophy and some books on Leadership (God knows we could use that right now). Here is a short list of books I can recommend if you are interested.
How Should We Then Live – Francis Schaffer
Leadership and Self Deception – The Arbinger Group
The Forgotten Man – Amity Shlaes
The One Thing – Gary Keller
How do you Kill 11 Million People – Andy Andrews
Some would say ‘I don’t read’ and I say if you really don’t have time to read then get them on audio. Check out Audible.com and I suspect you’ll find most of these there. It beats listening to the traffic reports and spinning news in the morning over and over.
I have read all of these and they give us a perspective we will NEVER get from the news.
Read books. “We will be the same person in 5 years that we are today except for 2 things: the people we meet and the book we read” ? Charles Jones.
If you don’t read or make an effort to learn you will be exactly where you are right now for the rest of you life. Is that OK with you?
Ok, I guess I’m done.
You know, it amuses me when I get done with one of these articles to look back and see what I wrote. I sat down about 45 minutes ago with just that song in my head and a profound belief that I would write something but I did not know what. I always trust that something will come out and that it will be either good or bad or somewhere in between but I will write. Sometimes when I just trust that it will work, the muse comes along and finds me working and decides to help me. Love it when that happens. Not sure it happened tonight but I enjoyed the work regardless. If you enjoyed it I would love to hear from you.
It is my goal to write more often so you might want to subscribe on the right so you don’t miss any of them. Facebook and Twitter will be posted but you might miss something if that is the only way you found me. You can do an RSS feed too if you want so you’ll get them pushed to you every time there is something new.
Thanks for listening,
