Tuesday Night Tunes – Pink Floyd
Juan Felipe Rubio via Compfight
This is not the best clip of Pink Floyd I have ever seen but it is a memory (sort of ) for me. The date was July 14, 1994. Pink Floyd was on tour and playing the Silver Dome in Detroit. I was working in a Ford Plant in Detroit and I knew the concert was that night.
I did not have a ticket.
This was as close as I ever got. A youtube video uploaded by someone else that was there.
The next day I was at work and one of the ‘bosses’ for Ford was telling us about the concert. He was there and he was going on and on and on about how good it was. I was about to tell him to just keep it to himself and he shared that his date couldn’t make it that night and the seat next to him was empty. All night. Empty. I just quietly walked out of the room.
What got me here tonight was the news that Pink Floyd’s catalog is now on Spotify. I also found lots of the albums and tracks on Google Music. I have listened to these guys since they started.
My first album to hear was Dark Side of the Moon. There have been lots of stories about that album. One persistent story is how it synchronizes with The Wizard of Oz. Lots of stories and I am here to tell you they are true. It’s fun to watch and I found a copy here for you to check out.
If you want to see some of the sync points check out Money (19:40) and Lunatic (37:23) on the sound track. There are others but those will get you started.
Hope you enjoy the clips and the music. I certainly did. If any of you got see them on this tour I would love to hear about it and I promise I won’t leave the room .
One more thing, if you found this on Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter, you are probably missing some of the articles. Subscribe over to the right and you’ll not miss a thing. I send out update emails on Wednesday so subscribe and stay in the loop.
Thanks for listening,
