I work at Keller Williams Realty, Atlanta Partners, North Gwinnett. I am so specific because I think it matters. Not all offices are the same. We are blessed here in the SE with some great offices, great owners and great team leaders.
Notice I did not say I work ‘for’ them. I work for myself (and my lovely wife). I work for my clients when they need me. I work at KWNG.
So, why am I at KW? Why have I been here over 10 years? Why would I be so loyal to a company in an industry where agents get out of the business or switch companies at the drop of a hat? What makes us loyal? Because it’s really about us, not them. I’ll give you the top 5 things that make us different.
1. Keller Williams invests in us instead of competing with us. Agents are the core of any business. We do the work and bring in the commissions from sales. Other companies spend money on national advertising campaigns to drive web traffic to their websites and then dole out the leads to the agents who pay for the privilege of working those leads. When was the last time you saw a Keller Williams ad on TV? KW teaches us how to build our own brand, develop our own leads and build our own business. We are the No. 1 company for a reason. Training and coaching are a big part of that.
2. At Keller Williams the brand recognition is about the agent, not the company. Since we are encouraged to build our own brand it makes our business truly our business. It would really be easy to leave this company and take our business with us but we don’t. Not if we participate in the culture of sharing, building a business and focusing on our clients.The company is our brand of reputation. Reputation is key for us. It takes more than the ability to fog a mirror to get hired here. Our team leader hires agents based on reputation and character as well as experience and production.
3. Everyone is treated equally. Top producers pay the same as the beginning agent. Once you earn $50,000 in commissions you keep 100% of your commission. No split, no royalty. It’s all yours. If you don’t earn that much at first it’s OK since we are a ‘pay as you earn’ company. Nothing out of pocket to be here. We all bring the same potential value so there is no reason to favor anyone with special deals. In fact, it is encouraged that the top producers coach and teach the newbies so it increases our office productivity and our profit.
4. Notice I said ‘our profit’. We as agents are earning profit just like an owner without the financial risk. About half of the profit earned on a monthly basis is paid out to the agents who helped in the success of the office. It will be in the range of $70,000,000 this year alone internationally. Some say you had to get in early to experience any that but I can tell you that is just not true. I won’t go into details here but I’ll share how it works if you want to know. It won’t cost you anything to share in the profit and we’re just getting started.
5. Keller Williams is an Open Book company. Since profits are shared with the agents it is expected that you might be interested in how the money is spent. You are encouraged to look. In fact, if you are on the Agent Leadership Council, you help decide how the money is spent. One thing it is not spent on is debt. KW International is debt free. Our office is debt free. I can tell you that debt can cost you a company. There are many companies that have been dismantled by debt. Ours won’t be one of them.
That’s enough for now. I want to encourage you to call and ask questions. There is a whole lot of myth-information out there about KW and I can tell you it is not what you have heard unless you heard it from a team leader or an agent that really understands how it works.
