Are you winning?

It’s tough to stay positive sometimes but if you don’t it gets tougher. I have had to turn off the news, the commentary on the events and understand the news media is a for profit business and they aren’t doing what they do to help me. They are doing it to help themselves. Click bait and bias skew everything we see so we have to keep an open mind.

” Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood” is one of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and it’s one of our statements of a belief system at KW. I find if I am willing to shut my mouth and open my ears and mind I can learn a lot more than the other way around.

Finally I have to be aware of who I am hanging out with, what are they saying and doing that influence me without my awareness? Here is a short clip that helps understanding how that works.

I got to hear Les Brown for the 1st time in 2003. I was a new agent and I think he influenced me more than I realized. I was set on a path of learning and being ‘hongry’. Listen to the end to get the true meaning of that ‘word’.

I’ve always been a reader, anxious to learn but it’s becoming more important now than ever before. You can’t allow what other people think and say to obliterate the facts, the truth. I believe you have to dig it out for yourself and not just let the evening news be the source of what you think.

I hope you’re focused and doing your best on what you choose to do today. If that is work then it will be your best work. If that is being with family watching the eclipse then do that.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
