Tuesday Night Tunes – Nate Currin

We hosted Nate at our house last Saturday. The event was a celebration of Susan retiring from the school system and getting her real estate license so she can help me. I won’t be allowed to tell her what to do but I’m sure it will make a difference in our business.  Enough of that though.

Nate put on a great show! He is a songwriter, a poet and some would say a madman. He even has an album titled A Madman and A Poet. I’ll post a couple of his songs here but there is one in particular I want to share.

This clip is from that night and recorded on my phone. Quality is not perfect but it’s not bad if you listen closely. It is currently untitled as it’s brand new. He tells great stories and while I failed to get the story for this one recorded it’s about all the division we have in the country. Sometimes we think we know more than we do and it affects our opinions far too much.

I’d have to agree. The older I get, the less I seem to be certain of. My personal make up causes me to want to see things in black and white but I find that serves me less than it used to. “Judge not, lest you be judged”

I work to listen more and talk less. Working to make a change is hard but I think it’s worth it.

We’ll host Nate again and encourage him to tell more stories. He has lots of them since he as traveled over a million miles, done over 1000 concerts and written more than 450 songs. Prolific, award winning and thoughtful in what he says and does.

From another album come Vanity Fair. It’s dark and somber but tells the story of Pilgrims Progress, a story by John Bunyan. Nate created this album to tell the story in a different way. I would recommend you listen to the whole album if you want to understand better.

I hope you enjoy Nate’s music and if you want an invite to the next house concert, email me. I’ll get you on the list.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
