Decide

I decided a few years ago to make a change and that change resulted in a loss of 60 pounds. That is not where I am today but I’m in a better place than where I was back then. I can walk farther, lift more and have more energy than I did back then.

Part of the change was creating some systems that helped me make better choices. There was no candy in the house. We shopped when we were better able to decide wisely and then at night when I wanted a snack I found there was no junk in the house. That’s a system that worked. It was a bit of discipline but really it was just a little bit. We did things to make it easier to make good choices instead of having junk in the house and having to resist when my will power was drained.

It’s simple as it says in this video but it’s not easy.

I watched another video where a group of people who had the surgery to solve their weight problems continued to struggle with weight problems. Surgery had failed them but one thing I noticed in the discussion was the word ‘want’ or ‘wish’ cropped up frequently. “I wish I weighed less”, “I want to do better” and phrases like that.

The answer I have for the difference is those folks had not DECIDED to make a change. It’s possible to make a small change today and experience big results in a year but it’s not easy.

I hope you find this helpful and if you want share how you decided today please comment or email me. I’d love to hear it.

Thanks for listening,
