Don’t Quit

I remember the day. Not the date but the day. I was cleaning up my office and found an old journal. Flipping pages I noticed a pattern I had not noticed before. The theme was a consistent ‘don’t quit’ in my entries. I was journaling about my career in real estate. I was looking back and contemplating a return to my old life as an engineer. Realistically going back was not an option I wanted but I was struggling in my real estate career in 2007 and 2008. It got worse from there but I got better. I decided.

In that pattern of ‘don’t quit’ I saw a problem. A focus on the wrong thing and I decided to stop it. To focus on the activity and doing the work I knew needed to be done to be successful.

I’m not done but I don’t look back anymore. I am encouraged by my coach, my colleagues and my team leader. I was encouraged by people who don’t even know me because I sought it out. I read books on getting better, on focusing on the right things and I surrounded myself with people succeeding in this business.

I am so grateful for Keller Williams and our culture, Gary Keller, Jason Bonds, Bryan Fair and many more. Too many to name here but people who encouraged me along the way and still do. Many of them played the part of the coach in this video for me and while they didn’t yell at me, they got more out of me that I thought I had to give.

I hope this finds you doing so well you don’t look back anymore but just in case it doesn’t, let me encourage you. Don’t look back. Set a goal. Look forward, put your head down and do the one thing today that will move your career forward.

One thing.

Can you do that?

Thanks for listening,
