I love this country…

I really do. I am blessed beyond measure to live in this place. I am afraid that it is ending in a way that we could have avoided if we had accepted personal responsibility and done what we know to be right. To speak out instead of putting our head down and taking the dole that is given by the government.

We are unwilling or maybe unable to resist the movement toward socialism where each must produce according to his ability and can consume according to his need. Need is subjective however and this philosophy will be our downfall.

I have to admit I have been reading Atlas Shrugged and I am not done with the book but it has frightened me to see how close we are to the plot of that book in this country. It was written in 1957 and reads like the paper today.

Businesses forbidden to move to another state because the union is not going to benefit from it. To make sure everyone pays ‘their fair share’ instead of broadening the tax base and having everyone pay based on consumption. More to think about and more to come but we are in trouble and if we don’t get a clear picture of where this path will take us we are in danger of collapsing.

If you are curious and want to learn more, I will recommend two books to read. One big and one small. Atlas Shrugged is epic in size and scope but it is fascinating. The other is a quick read. How do you kill eleven million people by Andy Andrews. This is an answer to that question and it applies to what we are doing to ourselves today.

Read, think and then do something about it. I pray we listen to history and consider the consequences of our actions before it is too late.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson (aka John Galt)
