Day Six – cuts

When I heard John Adams speak he said let’s eliminate HUD on Day Six. His comment was they don’t do anything but get in the way of recovery so they need to go.

I don’t really have any hard data on how much they cost or what they do but I like the idea of cutting government. I like it a lot. I have been watching some of John Stossel on TV and find him interesting. He claims he can balance the budget this year by eliminating and cutting lots of government programs that he says hurt more than they help. Check out one article by clicking here.

I also found lots of his shows on Hulu.com and you can see the list here. One thing he said that I found intriguing was that if we freeze our spending at current levels would be be ‘in the black’ by 2017. 6 years to a balanced budget if we don’t spend more than we are spending right now. No Draconian cuts. No changes at all but just cap what we spend to the level we are at today and we are balanced. That is not what I would like to see personally but it is a possibility I would consider rational. Certainly more rational than the path we are on now.

I am not trying to start a firestorm but I think we have to have a rational discussion on where we are headed. Stossel is not right or left but rather seems to present some really good ideas to discuss. It gets me to thinking. I come back to the idea that the Right and the Left are both wrong on some things and both correct on some things. We must find a way to manage the tension between the two positions and not try to fix ‘unfixable’ problems.

Day Seven is coming and that one might surprise you in it’s perspective so stay tuned.

PS. Please remember that I am never too busy for your referrals. Almost all of my business comes from friends, clients and people I already know. I don’t cold call or knock on doors so I depend on you to let me know when you know someone looking for help buying or selling in this market. Working by referral gives me more time to help when I’m needed instead of trying to find my next deal. If that makes sense please keep me in mind and let me know who I can help next.
