Headlines are clickbait
I’ll say it again. Headlines are clickbait. It seems to be especially true with COVID information. Who do you believe? It’s complicated and still too soon to tell much from the data we have. Everything I read seems to have an opinion attached.
I have an opinion too but I’m going to do my best to keep it from skewing my ability to process data. I used to work for a guy that had a sign on the wall of his office that said …
“If you don’t have any data, all you have is an opinion”.
He’s right. Opinions need to be listened to but then researched to see if they are valid.
Here is some raw data from Georgia Department of Public Health Daily Status Report and this link will take you there so you can see it yourself. Here are some graphs that show some positive trends in the data. No fudging, no cooking, just raw data that you can look at for yourself.
You can see the trend, right?
It’s going down for total cases, deaths, and positive tests. All that is good news and it’s unlikely you’ll see that in the news today. This is a trend and it can change but for now, it’s a positive thing.
Remember, news today is a business and their goal is to make money off the fear and unrest they can generate. Headlines are clickbait and you need to dig in to the details. Many times, reading the article with leave you with a completely different feeling than the headline. Don’t let them do that to you.
My mentor told me something I live by as much as I can. He said, “Don’t believe everything you think“.
I am also going to share an article I read about some new information discovered by using a supercomputer to crunch some genetic data about Covid. Check out this and be encouraged. I believe we will find a solution and until then …
Don’t believe everything you think.
Thanks for listening,
