Sunday. 12Stone church closed the service on Sunday with this one. The message was about ‘procrastination’ and how it can steal your life. Your future. Your work.

I am bad about procrastinating and this is a great inspiration to me.

So what are you procrastinating about? For me one of the things was the 717 email messages languishing in my inbox that I said I would deal with it ‘later’. Instead I dealt with it ‘now’. My inbox is empty and I have a few things (39) to tend to after going through and sorting into action, archive or delete.

I use two things to help keep me on task until my procrastination gets me in trouble. Getting Things Done is a great book and system to help keep track of all the things I have to do or am thinking about. The other tool is Evernote. If you want to see the two of them working well together check out ‘The Secret Weapon‘ for some quick how to videos in set up and managing your tasks. All of this can be done for free and it will work across all of your tech. Smartphone, laptop, chromebook (just got a new one and am using it now :).

The key for me is the Weekly Review. This is one example that I found but there are others if you find this one too intense. If I do a Weekly Review  consistently then I can stay on top of things but when my Weekly Review falls to monthly or even quarterly I am in big trouble. ‘Later’ is not a magical place where things get done. ‘Now’ is the closest thing to magic when it comes to getting things done.
