Tuesday Night Tunes – Green River Ordinance – Lost in the World

Noise Trade did it again. I found these guys there and started playing the album they are giving away. This song made me stop and listen. And listen again. And listen again. It’s been tough week and this one just spoke to me.

I found out an old friend was in hospice on Thursday and we had his funeral today. I’ve known him for almost 20 years and he always made me laugh. Harry, we will miss you. I’ll be glad when I see you again in Heaven.

I also had to take our dog Frodo to the vet for the last time this week. He was about 18 or 19 years old. We got him as a stray in the neighborhood and it was never a dull moment with him. He was our Jack Russel Terrorist. He will be missed too.

Like I said, a tough week.

This song is about relationships.  Relationships in the here and now. Relationships between people who are really close. Sometimes we get lost in the world and forget what is really important. Relationships are everything. In the end, it’s all we have and all we get to take to Heaven with us. We get to tell stories about those who go before us and there will be stories about us once we go too.

If you have a relationship that has languished and needs attention, pick up the phone. Make the call. You go first. If you have a friend that is lost in this world and you can encourage, find them, call them and tell them that you are on their side.

My wife Susan and I are working on a collection of songs for our anniversary and this one will make the cut. I will be posting the songs here as we work on it and I have my son Mike to thank for the idea. It came out of our enjoyment of the wedding CD that he and Raechel did for us. Love the idea and it started me down the path of searching out music that speaks to me. This one certainly does.
