Tuesday Tunes – Rebekah Vyce

eb35b20c2be91c72d252440dee4a5b97e770ead510b310469c_640_connectedI would like to introduce you to Rebekah. Give her a listen and scroll down to keep reading about how I met her.

It’s a funny thing about music. I was watching a tv show and they picked a song called No Running From Me to play toward the end. I loved the sound and try as I might I could not find the song using the song search tools on my phone.

So I backed up the tv show and turned on closed captioning. That got me some lyrics to search. Google is a big place and I got lots of hits but not the one I wanted. I did find the song on the episode list for the tv show I was watching but could not find a place to download or stream the music.

Then in the results I saw Rebekah’s name. Success, I thought.

Turned out it wasn’t her song but I found the video above and liked it too. I found Rebekah on Twitter (@RebekahVyce) and followed her. I also sent a direct message to say I liked her music and planned to listen some more. She wrote back 🙂

The world is an amazing place today. Social media, streaming music, direct messages to anyone with internet access. Stats say 3.2 Billion people have internet access. Almost half of the world population and you can connect to any of them if you like.

Music played on the radio is very limited but ‘radio’ via Google music or Spotify produces music to listen to that you’re never going to hear through other channels. I guess that’s one of the reasons I write this blog, to introduce you to music I find and hopefully help the artist in some small way. Even if it’s just to let them know I liked what I heard. I think it matters.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
