Dang, that extra hour of daylight …

I was living in Shreveport, LA back in 1990. Was working for GM at the truck plant and had been there a while. We were living in an apartment and I had my family with me so I would not have to travel back between Shreveport and Indianapolis.

When you relocate you find some new things. Some good, some not so much. The good things in Shreveport were a church, the food and some great friends. We enjoyed the culture and most of the experience. I have one distinct memory the day the time changed.

On Monday morning on the way to work I was listening to a local radio station that took calls from people who had some sort of beef and wanted to vent.

I kid you not, that morning a guy called in a said in a disgusted voice ‘I wish they would stop messing around with the clocks. That extra hour of daylight is killing my grass!!’ and he hung up.

When there is nothing being said or played on the radio they call it Dead Air. There was some dead air as the DJ recovered. Funny stuff.

So the point is tonight we change the clock. Spring Forward was the saying goes. Officially the time changes at 2am but if you don’t want to stay up or set your alarm, you can change it before you go to sleep. Just a thought.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
