Green River Ordinance – Tuesday Night Tunes

Here is a cool video of one of my favorite groups. They are named Green River Ordinance and I find it interesting to hear the story of the name. Wikipedia says they are named after the Green River Ordinance that says organizations can’t sell things door to door without prior consent of the buyer.

There’s a reason I’m bringing this up but for now, check out these two acoustic versions of their music.

The rest of the story is I just might get to hear all of it. How they got their name that is. GRO is coming to Terminal West on Sept 23rd and I bought tickets. That was cool all by itself but there is more. A couple of days ago I got an email from them offering tickets to a special VIP experience before the concert. It was limited to 25 people and I got tickets!! I’m going to be in what would be about the size of a house concert with GRO. I get to talk with them, listen to a special acoustic version of the concert and I suspect there is more but I’ll have to wait and see until the 23rd. This is going to be cool!!

I picked the acoustic versions for tonight’s blog so you and I could both start to imagine what it will sound like. Anticipation is a real thing. When it’s positive, like this, we love it. When you plan a vacation, anticipation is almost as good as the event itself. I love thinking about, planning the drive, creating playlists and all that just to get away for a few days. It’s fun.

I do my best to anticipate things and not worry about things. I have found that most things work out for good if I will just do my part and trust God for the rest. I can’t do it all but I can do my part. My coach calls it the law of the harvest. You reap what you sow, give it out in slices and it comes back in loaves.

Sort of old language and maybe I need to explain a bit. Sowing refers to planting seeds. I grew up on a farm and I know what it means to plant seeds. My dad raised wheat and soybeans and we had a machine called a seed drill. We filled it with seeds and pulled it behind the tractor. It put the seeds in the ground the right depth and covered them with dirt so the birds could not get at the seed.  Reaping was a word for harvest. Plant 1 seed and get 30 or 50 or 100 when you harvest. Do your part in planting 1 seed and enjoy the result a few months later.

If we anticipate the harvest and don’t focus on what could go wrong I think we enjoy life a bit more. Yes, for you realists out there, there will be trouble. Rain might not fall or a tornado might come along or a hail storm. I experienced all those things on the farm too but I’m still here and doing better than I deserve. Things have turned out ok.

Enough preaching for tonight. If you hung with me this long you deserve another song. Check this one out.

Hope you have a great week. I’m anticipating one 🙂

Thanks for listening,
