Tuesday Tunes – Guitars weep

DSC_0034

I love this song and love how it is played by lots of great names. Here are a few more ‘great names’ doing it in a way that can bring tears to your eyes. Can you imagine Dhani Harrison and how he felt, getting to play with two of his dad’s partners, Eric Clapton and all the others in just this song? I suspect it was a highlight for him.

I’m just back from a few days at the beach where it stormed a bit on the second day (that is the picture above) but we missed the hurricane that was supposed to hit. It went to the east a bit and missed PCB altogether.

It was a quick trip but a time to finish reading Resilience by Eric Greitens. I am going to pass along some of my notes and main take aways from it later but let me say, I have never highlighted a book like I did this one. It is written by Eric, who is running for Governor of Missouri right now and one of the quotes I highlighted says “Any nation that draws too great a distinction between its scholars and its warriors will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools.” To me that is profound. I think we have been led by some who don’t understand what it means to lead.

I suspect someone like Mr. Greitens knows leadership and would make a great Governor. I won’t be moving to Missouri anytime soon but I will be watching how it turns out and might even send a dollar or two to help.

Enough politics for now. I really didn’t mean to go down that path but this time to write on Tuesday night is one where I get to process my thoughts and reflect on what I have read or done. This book is one that will be on my annual list for a while to come. It think it’s worth your time to check it out.

I would love to hear about what you’re reading these days. I have not read as much as I would like but my goal is to read 24 books a year. I usually make it too. Reading is a way to have a mentor like Zig Ziglar or Jim Rohn and they are long gone. What they wrote and what they recorded is a gift. What are you reading? Who are you listening to? I really would like to know so I can share in that with you.

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
