You might be surprised

Now for something completely different. I love New Orleans. Last year Susan and I spent Christmas week there and we loved it. The food, the people and the music. There is nothing like it anywhere else. I learned that the the city enjoys an ‘elegant decay’ and if you have spent any time there you understand.

A couple of weeks ago I got to hear Paul Sanchez sing in person and that was great too. He even taught us something about ‘second line’ music. I’ll be sharing something about that night soon too so stay tuned for that.

That got me to watching Treme again via Amazon Prime and it just makes me want to go back. The good news is I get to in February with Keller Williams and our Family Reunion. I can hardly wait.

Tonight I was blessed to hear Dr. John share this song on Treme and I wanted to share it with you on this last installment of motivation in 2015.

Here are some of the lyrics from the song so you are prepared to experience it fully:

“You Might Be Surprised”

Life is a near death experience
Hell is right here on this great big Earth
It could be a little taste of heaven
If we only knew our worth
All we got to do is want it bad enough
To push ourself through
We always underestimate ourselves
We do every day we can always do better
In each and every way
If we don’t believe in ourselves
Nobody’s gonna do it
If we don’t push ourselves
We’ll never make it through it…

As we journey into 2016 I want to encourage you to push yourself, give more than you take and spend some time this holiday season to work on your big why. “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”

Now, press play and close your eyes. Join me in listening to the soul of this man sing. Life is a near death experience.

You might be surprised!!

Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
